Have you ever been speaking with someone and thought, “Hey they seem like a decent person”? Only to have them take you off guard by some wild statement. This is due to your subjectivity pertaining to moral and philosophical principles most likely. What is admissible to one person can be highly repulsive to another. What are you willing to sacrifice or tolerate when keeping the company of another?
Your subjectivity transcends basic human interaction and can even alter life career choices amongst many other facets of life. I know personally, I will not accept a job that goes against any moral principles I hold closely. I know many that will not hesitate to take a position because it pays well. I on the other hand would shame such behavior if it were to go against one’s moral principles. I would not day after day, engage in activity for financial gain that goes against my will to do what I deem is right. It seems as if for some, subjectivity pertaining to morals is as flexible as that of a rubber band. Suffice to say, some merely adopt their “morals” from man’s laws, to begin with, only refusing to engage in activities that will land them in a steel cell.
I find it very difficult to bend or flex my morals to accommodate the activity of another. I believe quite firmly that if one holds true to their personal beliefs, they will experience fewer negative emotions than those with a “fair-weather” approach to their own. Sure, as time passes what was once right may become wrong and vice versa. People change and with knowledge should do so if it is for the best of their fellow “man.” This is what matters, not what is best for the selfish. Even though many amongst society treat each other poorly, it doesn’t help to join in the depravity, contributing to the dystopian environment.
In closing, subjectivity can be seen as flexible from one moment to the next. This is not unlike the individual who chooses to change their fitness program frequently to “confuse” the body, but never sees any positive results! I say stick to the principles you have and do not waiver unless knowledge gained has pushed them into another direction with good reason. If you choose to stay frequently “flexible” on your subjectivity pertaining to morality based on a degenerate and depraved society you will only find yourself “confused” within your own existence.
